Comedy Monday Night Signs Network Broadcast Contract

Comedy Monday Night founder & producer James Moore announced that Comedy Monday Night and Happy Accident Productions Inc. have signed a network broadcast contract, for the first season of their new Stand-up comedy series, After Birth Alley.

The weekly show hosted by veteran Canadian Stand-up comic, Daryl Makk and recorded “Live” on location at Broken City in Calgary, launches its first broadcast episode in March on Vulcan TV (VTV) and will feature some of the best touring, local and western Canadian comics.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase some of the amazing comics we’re producing in Canada, plus some of the great international acts that drop by,” Moore said.

Broken City provides the backdrop for Comedy Monday Night; sometimes raw and always uncensored. “The production team’s done a great job of capturing the live energy of the room. When you see it on-screen, you’ll feel like you were there and part of the live audience. There’s no laugh track or canned laughter, it’s a genuine live recording experience.”

Not pure Stand-up, the show will spotlight the process of developing comedy, by incorporating an interview with live delivery of the material.
Comics are taken fresh-off the stage, from in front of a live audience and interviewed about their performance & material. The interviews are conducted outside, in an actual alley.

“It’s a bit of a peek behind the curtain into the inner-sanctum of Stand-up. That’s why, according to Moore, we call the show After Birth Alley. The audience will be treated to the live performance of some great comedy and then hear the comic talk about how that material was developed.”

According to Moore, Happy Accident Inc. will produce 10 episodes of After Birth Alley for the first season, launching this March.

When contacted, VTV Executive Producer Vern Wutzke had this to say about the upcoming launch of After Birth Alley on the Vulcan TV Network; “VTV is excited to have an original live performance stand-up comedy series for our Indie Comedy channel. As a viewer, you know the comics are amazing performers when you see and hear the live audience spontaneous laughter. Best of all you can watch any time you like with any device or smart TV on Vulcan Television Network at vulcantv.ca. The series is truly ground breaking and VTV is thrilled to broadcast After Birth Alley on our network.”
